Valencia from Above: Rooftop Terraces Actually Worth Visiting
There is something about Valencia that looks even better from above.
Maybe it is the warm evening light, the mix of historic rooftops and modern architecture, or simply the fact that a cold drink tastes better when you are watching the sun disappear over the city.
Over the years, rooftop terraces have become increasingly popular in Valencia. Some are genuinely worth adding to your trip. Others look better on Instagram than they feel once you actually get there.
So rather than giving you another endless list of every rooftop in Valencia, these are the places we would recommend depending on the experience you are looking for — plus one popular terrace that, from our own experience, we wouldn’t go out of our way to visit.
Atenea Sky – The One to Visit If It’s Your First Time in Valencia
If you only have time for one rooftop in central Valencia, Atenea Sky ✢ Rooftop is probably the easiest recommendation.
Located at the Ateneo Mercantil, just off Plaza del Ayuntamiento, it puts you right above one of the most recognisable parts of the city.
What makes Atenea different is the view. Its 360° viewpoint is on the eighth floor, and from up here you get a completely different perspective of central Valencia. The rooftop itself combines drinks, food, music and plenty of space to simply sit and enjoy the city below.
It is not exactly a hidden secret anymore, and it can get busy, but for a first visit to Valencia that doesn’t really matter.
Our pick: Go towards sunset. Seeing the city change from daylight to evening is much more memorable than simply coming for a daytime drink.
270º SkyBar – Best for the City of Arts and Sciences View
For a completely different Valencia skyline, head towards 270º SkyBar.
Instead of looking across the historic centre, this is the kind of rooftop to choose when you want Valencia’s modern side — particularly the area around the City of Arts and Sciences.
That’s why we wouldn’t necessarily choose between Atenea and 270º. They offer two very different views of the same city.
Come in the late afternoon, order a drink and stay as the light begins to change. Valencia’s modern architecture is particularly impressive around sunset.
Our pick: One of the better choices if the City of Arts and Sciences is already part of your day’s itinerary.
Lladró Lounge Bar Rooftop – A Quiet Escape Above the Old Town
If you prefer a rooftop where you can actually relax rather than somewhere loud and crowded, this is one of our favourite spots in central Valencia.
Hidden on top of Hotel Palacio Vallier, just steps from Plaza de la Virgen, the terrace feels surprisingly peaceful considering its location in the heart of the Old Town. Grab a drink, slow down and enjoy the views across Valencia’s historic rooftops and Cathedral.
It’s not the place we’d choose for a party — and that’s exactly why we like it.
Best for: Relaxing drinks, couples, quiet evenings and Old Town views.
Our tip: Come around sunset, find a comfortable spot and stay for a while. This is a rooftop to enjoy slowly.
Luna de Valencia – Our Choice Near Torres de Serranos
Luna de Valencia Rooftop by MYR hotels sits on top of Hotel Puerta Serranos, and location is a big part of its appeal.
You are right beside the historic Torres de Serranos and overlooking the Turia Gardens. The atmosphere is more relaxed than some of Valencia’s larger rooftop venues, with sofas, greenery and a Mediterranean feel.
The official terrace information highlights views directly towards Torres de Serranos and the old Turia riverbed, and that is exactly the reason we’d choose this one.
It works particularly well after spending an afternoon exploring El Carmen. Walk through the old city, reach Serranos and finish with a cocktail above it.
Our pick: A very good sunset stop if you’re exploring Valencia’s historic centre.
Sky Bar Novotel Valencia Lavant – For a More Modern Rooftop Experience
Not every good rooftop needs to be hidden among the narrow streets of Ciutat Vella.
Sky Bar Novotel Valencia Lavant offers something different: a modern rooftop with panoramic city views, cocktails and a swimming pool.
During summer it takes on more of a lounge atmosphere, making it a better choice if you want to spend some time upstairs rather than simply take a photograph, finish a drink and leave. The venue currently promotes cocktails, Mediterranean food and its summer lounge concept.
Because it isn’t right in the middle of the tourist centre, the perspective over Valencia is also different from Atenea or Luna de Valencia.
Our pick: Better for a relaxed afternoon or evening when the rooftop itself is part of the plan.

Café Madrid – Come for the Cocktail History
Café Madrid Valencia deserves a mention for a different reason.
Valencia is the home of Agua de Valencia, and Café Madrid is closely associated with the history of the city’s famous cocktail. That makes it an interesting stop if you want something more than just another panoramic photograph.
This is the kind of place we’d combine with an evening exploring the historic centre rather than build an entire afternoon around.
Our pick: Try an Agua de Valencia while you’re here — especially if it’s your first visit to the city.
Estimar Marina Farnals – La Pobla de Farnals
A Seaside Rooftop Escape Just Outside Valencia
If you don’t mind heading a little outside Valencia, Estimar Marina Farnals is a great option for something different. Located by the coast in La Pobla de Farnals, it swaps the usual city rooftop views for a much more relaxed Mediterranean setting.
It’s a particularly good choice around sunset, when you can enjoy a drink with views towards the sea and escape the busier terraces in central Valencia. From Valencia, it’s also close enough to combine with an afternoon at the beach.
Our tip: Come before sunset, have a drink on the terrace and stay for the evening. It’s one of those places worth leaving the city centre for.
Grand Hotel Centenari – Valencia
A New Rooftop Worth Knowing About
Grand Hotel Centenari is one of the newer additions to Valencia’s hotel and rooftop scene and a place we think deserves a spot on the list.
Its central location makes it an easy stop while exploring Valencia, especially if you’re looking for somewhere stylish for an afternoon drink or an evening cocktail without travelling outside the city.
The atmosphere is more elegant and hotel-like than some of Valencia’s busier rooftop bars, making it a good alternative when you want something a little more relaxed.
Our tip: Go later in the afternoon and turn it into a pre-dinner drink before heading into the historic centre.
And What About Blanq Rooftop?
You’ll probably see La terraza de Blanq mentioned when searching for rooftop terraces in Valencia.
Its location is certainly attractive. It is close to Torres de Serranos, right in an area most visitors will explore anyway.
But this is one place where our personal experience was less impressive than the online photos and rooftop lists had led us to expect.
The terrace itself is pleasant enough, and if you’re staying nearby there is nothing wrong with stopping for a drink. But compared with the other rooftops on this list, we found the overall experience rather underwhelming.
We wouldn’t make a special journey across Valencia specifically for it.
And if you’re already around Torres de Serranos and want a rooftop experience, our preference would be Luna de Valencia.
That doesn’t mean Blanq is a bad place. It simply illustrates something worth remembering when travelling: a place can be popular online without necessarily being the best choice for you.
Our verdict: Fine if you’re already nearby, but not one of our must-do Valencia rooftops.
So, Which Valencia Rooftop Should You Choose?
If it’s your first visit to Valencia, start with Atenea Sky.
For views towards the City of Arts and Sciences, choose 270º SkyBar.
For Torres de Serranos and the old city atmosphere, we’d pick Luna de Valencia.
For a more modern rooftop and pool atmosphere, try Sky Bar at Novotel Valencia Lavant.
And if you’re looking for a drink with a little Valencia history behind it, add Café Madrid to your evening.
You don’t need to visit every rooftop in Valencia. Pick one or two that fit where you’re already exploring, arrive before sunset and give yourself enough time to actually enjoy the view.
That’s usually much better than spending your evening rushing from one rooftop to another just to tick them off a list.
Travel to Valencia Tip
Valencia sunsets change considerably throughout the year, so check the sunset time on the day you visit and try to arrive 30–45 minutes beforehand.
And during busy weekends and the summer season, it’s worth checking the venue’s current opening hours or reservation policy before heading across the city.
