The best way to start exploring Bocairent is also the simplest:
Walk.
The historic centre is a maze of narrow stone streets, steep stairways, old houses and tiny corners that weren’t designed for modern cars – or modern tourists.
Put the map away occasionally and see where the streets take you.
You’ll find arches, fountains, small plazas and viewpoints appearing between the buildings.
Our tip: Comfortable shoes aren’t optional here. Bocairent has plenty of slopes and steps.
🪨 Discover the Covetes dels Moros
This is the experience that makes Bocairent genuinely unusual.
Look across the rock face and you’ll see dozens of small openings cut directly into the cliff.
These are the Covetes dels Moros, a remarkable network of artificial caves connected through the interior of the rock.
From outside they almost look like windows in an impossible building.
Inside, the experience becomes considerably more adventurous.
Moving between some of the chambers involves climbing and squeezing through relatively small openings, so this isn’t a normal museum visit.
And that’s exactly why people remember it.
